This is a bottle for water or wine, in the Serbian tradition it is most often called “buklija” or “čutura” It was used for storing liquids, most often wine, raki or water. It was actively used at weddings, baptism and other ceremonies, by shepherds and peasants in the field, on holidays and during travels. It often had two necks: one for pouring, the second for drinking (or for regulating the air during pouring). The small legs allowed the vessel to be placed vertically. Green glaze with a characteristic spiral and leaf pattern is a traditional decorative motif from southern Serbia.
